Job Description:

The University of Florida’s Human Resources Department is seeking a collaborative, passionate, and results-oriented instructional designer to join the Training and Organizational Development (T&OD) team. This position will partner with units across UF and members of the dynamic T&OD team to create exceptional learning materials and system support documentation for faculty and staff at UF.

By providing ongoing personal and professional development opportunities, the T&OD team’s purpose is to help increase UF employees’ effectiveness—and their ability to contribute to UF’s mission. With a diverse portfolio of programs, courses, certificates, and learning events, T&OD is committed to developing superior training on a wide variety of topics.

This position requires a solid foundation in instructional design skills, with the ability to quickly build courses and learning materials. Strong written, verbal, and production skills are essential. A strong commitment to teamwork, along with excellent organizational skills are critical for success in this role.

 

Portfolio Requirement:

A digital portfolio is required for this position. Please include a link for your online instructional design portfolio. The portfolio should include:

• Samples demonstrating your instructional design experience and skills in creating instructional materials (e.g., course modules, e-learning projects, microlearning, training guides, and multimedia content)

• Include a brief description of each project, outlining the project goals, your role, and the outcomes achieved

 

Competencies for an Instructional Design II

• Instructional Design

• Conduct a thorough needs analysis to understand the desired outcome or objective to determine the best learning modality for topics

• Innovative design skills to produce graphically pleasing, easy to understand, and engaging learning materials for adult learners

• Creative development using ADA-compliant interactions; demonstrated competencies with a wide variety of development tools and technologies such as Articulate Storyline & RISE, Captivate, Adobe Suites, Zoom, MS Teams, and other technology tools

• Self-starter, results-oriented, manage time to achieve milestones and implementation deadlines to ensure learners build knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Evaluate the effectiveness of training materials to successfully align objectives with the desired outcomes

Project Management

• Nimbly manage a wide variety of projects such as online and in-person courses, Zoom sessions, instructional guides, micro-learnings, and infographics with efficient and effective strategies

• Create learning materials in a fast-paced team with accuracy and attention to detail

• Organized and self-directed, agile with the ability to work on multiple, yet simultaneous, projects that support the strategic goals of T&OD and UFHR

Communication

• Ability to skillfully interview subject matter experts or conduct research to support the development of instructional content, think critically about the information gathered, and apply insights to achieve the learning outcomes

• Working independently and collaboratively to develop course materials and training plans, and seek feedback from other team members

• Facilitate training classes for faculty and staff

Expected Salary:

$61,000 - $70,000
