This position is housed in the Dean’s Office, College of Public Health and Health Professions, reports to the Assistant Director, Advising Services within the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program, receives instruction from the Assistant Director and the MPH Program Director, and works closely with public health students, faculty, and staff. Primary duties and focus include academic advising, course management, and academic support for public health programs. The incumbent in this position performs a broad range of advising and administrative duties in support of the Public Health programs, students, and faculty; and as such, must present a professional demeanor and attitude, maintain a high level of confidentiality related to sensitive issues, initiate problem-solving techniques, and exercise independent and prudent judgment when completing the tasks and responsibilities associated with their duties.
The Master of Public Health degree is one of the defining programs of the College of Public Health and Health Professions. The person in this position is expected to work collaboratively within the program, and with other faculty and staff; and to have enthusiasm and positive energy to enhance the program’s reputation nationwide.
Advising Advises public health students (campus and online students, and full-time and part-time students) regarding academic courses, professional preparation, and career opportunities. Other specific tasks include: -Updating public health students on program changes, as needed; -Ensuring student records are maintained and up-to-date; -Tracking student progress and ensuring all requirements are met for graduation; -Conducting degree and/or grade audits, as requested; -Developing and monitoring plans of study for public health students; -Monitoring student performance and resolving common student issues; -Working with the MPH Assistant Director, and the MPH Director to resolve uncommon or atypical student issues.
Course Management Serves as primary point of contact for course registration for MPH (on-campus & online) classes. Oversees MPH course set-up and scheduling (for online and campus courses), including: -Confirm with individual departments for teaching assignments; -Create, activate, and cancel sections; -Enter course delivery data; -Enter instructors and update enrollment caps based on projected enrollment numbers; -Oversee textbook adoption; -Enter Academic Activities Reporting (AAR) for each section; -Complete room requests; -Assign course graders and monitor submissions; -Set-up course evaluations; -As requested, compile course evaluation data for the public health core courses for the Director’s review, and department chairs. Additionally, collects up-to-date copies of course syllabi from Public Health faculty and ensures they are posted to MPH website; emails students to remove holds; and sends notification of cancelled classes.
Academic Support Ensure student side of onboarding for new students, including tracking online orientation completion, updating student files and student status, and adding and removing students from registrar groups. Coordinate assignment of faculty advisors each semester, inputting faculty mentor assignments into GIMS and updating the student database. Input final exam grades into the Student Information System, by the UF deadline, each semester. Assist in the organization of program events.
Recruitment Coordinate with other staff in the recruitment of combination degree students. This includes working with other advisors in scheduling, coordinating, and planning combination Bachelor's to MPH information sessions for interested students. Maintain (and coordinate revision of, when necessary) Combination Bachelor's to MPH program documents and website information. Work with the Admissions Coordinator to coordinate admission-related events.

Expected Salary: |
$49,000 - $52,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Master’s degree in Public Health or related field.
- Advising experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of basic computer systems (e.g., excel, word, and access) and UF’s Student Information System.
- Knowledge of UF policies and procedures related to student advising, registration, and graduation requirements.

This position may offer flexible work arrangements such as hybrid/remote work locations (up to 2 days per week). This position is not fully remote and will require a campus presence every week.
