Job Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida invites qualified individuals to apply for a Research Assistant Professor position. This new position is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure-accruing faculty position.

The ideal applicant is expected to be a rehabilitation scientist with a diverse clinical background including expertise in skeletal muscle disease and physiology who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and interacts effectively with faculty from multiple disciplines, staff, clinicians, and trainees.

The applicant will demonstrate an established research record with a history of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. While the primary focus of this position will be on research, a small amount of teaching in an area consistent with the applicant’s expertise may be available. As such, in addition to developing a strong research agenda, this individual will be expected to bring pediatric clinical expertise, exceptional teaching abilities, and a commitment to the education and development of future rehabilitation clinicians and scientists.

The Department offers two educational programs: an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and training in Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD).

Minimum Requirements:

PhD Degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

The department is particularly interested in applicants who have:
1) Expertise in skeletal muscle disease and physiology across the lifespan and in disease.
2) Clinical experience as a physical therapist (PT) in a pediatric setting.
3) Two years of postdoctoral training.
4) One to three years of teaching experience with a DPT curriculum.
