WRUF and WRUF.com, part of the University of Florida’s Division of Media Properties (DMP) seeks to hire a talented and experienced Brand Manager/Host/Producer to join our team at the UF College of Journalism and Communications. The Brand Manager will be responsible for developing, creating, and managing sports-focused content for WRUF’s audio, video, digital and social platforms. This role requires a creative thinker with strong skills, extensive experience and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves in a leadership role related to the programming and operation of commercial radio station and ESPN affiliate WRUF-AM, which also operates a FM signal and companion WRUF-FM HD 100,000-watt signal covering all of the Gainesville-Ocala, Florida market in addition to digital and social media platforms.
- Collaborates with DMP leadership to ensure WRUF-AM and sports-related content is leading the market and providing UF students with extraordinary professional experiences.
- Produces daily programming promos and topicals for WRUF sports programming, including writing, sending copy to the station voice, and then producing spots to air per the direction of the Director of Commercial Radio.
- Coordinates with JSA partner Audacy sales team in developing and implementing top quality station promotional events in the community, including but not limited to, live remote broadcasts, etc.
- Joins station management and staff/students in air check sessions to fine-tune the programming and presentation of the radio station(s).
- Works with air staff on content opportunities available through network or other sources to enhance the daily show content both on air and online/mobile. Ensures a constant and ongoing suite of local public service announcements are available for broadcast on both radio stations and coordinate the production and airing of those PSA’s.
- Supervise board operator and host training and evaluates operator and host performance, assembles schedules for student employees and ensures coverage of the studio during live programming
- Coordinates creation of new traffic log templates in automation system for programming and ensures the operations aspects of the radio stations operate consistently and at top level.
- Serves as the primary contact for all Florida Gators (University Athletic Association) /IMG and other live sporting event broadcasts and Audacy to get technical formats ready for broadcast when necessary.
