Assist providers during medical examinations of children where there has been suspected child abuse or
neglect by performing the following functions: obtain patient vital signs and measurements, plot
measurements on growth charts, assist in sexual assault exams, assist with forensic photography, perform
blood draws for HIV/RPR, and perform follow-up phone calls regarding nPEP HIV prophylaxis protocol, assist
with telemedicine exams at satellite offices.

Keep exam rooms and cabinets fully stocked, copy forms, body diagrams and growth charts for exam rooms, discard expired medications and supplies, monitor the evidence room and contact law enforcement officers to pick up evidence when needed, monitor the lab refrigerator, light cleaning and room disinfection after exams, check AED monthly and maintain log, call for biomedical waste and laundry pick-ups and organize and maintain Jay’s closet (CPT supplies for assault exams).

Report abnormal STD results to the Department of Health, upload exam photos to the shared CPT drive,
copy, fax and scan medical reports, assist with maintaining documents for clinic certification (AHCA, CLIA and UF safety), act as liaison with other UF departments, such as UF CARES (Rainbow) Clinic.

Minimum Requirements: |
Successful completion of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam offered by an appropriate accredited institute. Appropriate institutes include the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), and the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
