- Responsible for management, oversight, and direction for student organization management functions
• Supervise, train and evaluate staff for student organization management establishing work priorities and workflow; developing strategic goals relevant to the area, and providing general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment.
• Coordinate administrative programs for registered student organizations such as scholarships, officer eligibility, space allocations, and other administrative programs.
• Coordinate assessments of student organizations and advisors that includes but is not limited to benchmarking, advisor orientation and onboarding, recurring training, and regular communication.
• Manage student organization conduct issues and violations of university policy and the code of conduct in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other UF departments, including academic departments, in programming and related efforts.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with appropriate policies and guidelines related to student organizations.
• Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are followed for student organization events including but not limited to event permitting, use of space/facilities, and catering.
• Develop and implement education and training workshops for student organizations and leaders on topics related to leadership development, event management, risk management, prevention of hazing, sexual violence, alcohol and other drugs.
• Assist with marketing and promotions strategy for educating students and encouraging co-curricular involvement.
• Manage the coordination of the student organization registration process.
• Responsible for budget planning, development, and oversight for areas of responsibility
- Provide advising, assistance, and general oversight for student organizations and advisors.
• Advise designated student organizations providing support related to registration, programming, promotion, fiscal management, event management, risk management and general operations.
• Advise student leaders and organization advisors on issues and policies affecting student organizations, including but not limited to organization registration, developing and interpreting the organization’s constitution, advising, use of UF facilities and other resources, and student leader eligibility requirements.
• Advise student organizations on aspects of performer contracting process (e.g. contract negotiation, preparation, and management).
• Serve as departmental liaison to the Office of Event Services regarding all aspects of student organization events, tabling, permitting, etc.
• Encourage and support co-sponsorship initiatives between organizations.
• Develop, maintain, and disseminate up-to-date educational resources for student organizations and student leaders.
• Coordinate and provide oversight for an effective student organization advisor network that includes advisor orientation and onboarding, recurring training, and regular communication.
• Assist with the implementation of student organization and student organization advisor recognition programs.
• Report appropriate information as required by Clery Act and Title IX.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that mitigate risk and liability for department related to student organizations.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to educate and inform students about risk management reduction.
- Assist with administrative functions of the Office of Community & Belonging and the Student Engagement team.
• Serve as the lead for the Student Organizations functional area within the Student Organizations & Advisor Resources.
• Develop, conduct, and analyze research and assessments for various programs and services of the Student Organizations & Advisor Resources area including but not limited to student organization needs assessment, effectiveness of programs and services including outcomes assessment and student satisfaction.
• Advise and assist the Director of Community & Belonging in strategic planning and in meeting the service and educational objectives of the unit.
• Assist with budget planning and reporting. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper procedures, controls, and financial guidelines for all areas including organization expenditures.
• Provide supervision, training, and support for the Program Coordinators for Student Organizations, graduate assistant, and numerous Student Engagement student staff.
• Serve on Division of Student LIfe or University of Florida committees as needed.
• Serve as liaison to Risk Management unit developing ways to mitigate risk and liability.
– Support Departmental Programs or Large-Scale Student Organizations’ Campus Events
• Providing support and advisement for major campus-wide events hosted by registered student organizations or the Department.
- Contributes to the Division and University through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call, event support team, conduct committee, student welcome events, etc); and, other duties as assigned.
