Job Description: |
- Perform wet bench design, development of procedures, testing, and analysis of molecular diagnostic assays.
- Conduct assay validation, optimization, and troubleshooting for both clinical and research applications.
- Organize, analyze, summarize, and present data for review by the Supervisor/Director.
- Undertake miscellaneous laboratory duties (e.g., lab meetings, communications, SOP writing)
necessary to support the above functions.
- Perform general lab maintenance, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment and
records.
- Train others in new methodologies and testing techniques

Minimum Requirements: |
Doctoral degree in health sciences, medical engineering, biology or a closely related field; or a master's degree in health sciences, medical engineering, biology, or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in health sciences, medical engineering, biology, or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: |
The ideal candidate will possess strong independent work skills, the ability to analyze and present data effectively, and the capability to multitask while maintaining close communication with the Supervisor/Director. A baccalaureate degree in biochemistry, biology, or a related field is preferred, along with hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques within a research or clinical laboratory setting.
Candidates should either possess or be committed to obtaining their Medical Technologist certification and Florida licensure.
Preferred skills include cell culture, DNA and RNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real-time quantitative PCR, and sequencing (Sanger, NGS, RNASeq). Familiarity with molecular biology software, instrumentation, and cell biology procedures is advantageous, while a solid foundation in cellular and molecular biology is essential. Exceptional teamwork and communication skills are required.
