Position Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in our Adult Psychiatry Division.

This position is focused on providing direct psychiatric care in our Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, along with supervising and mentoring adult psychiatry residents and other learners. Core responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and providing psychotherapy. The role also offers opportunities to participate in advanced treatment modalities, such as neuromodulation therapies (ECT, TMS, and esketamine), and to engage in (or develop) specialty clinics (OCD, psychosis, neurodevelopmental disorders) based on individual expertise and interest. Additional clinical opportunities based on individual interest may include consultation-liaison psychiatry and college health psychiatry. This position includes acting as core clinical faculty in the ACGME accredited adult general psychiatry residency training program.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult outpatients, including medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Supervise and provide clinical oversight for psychiatry residents and other learners within the outpatient clinic.
  • Participate in neuromodulation services, such as Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and esketamine treatments as appropriate.
  • Contribute to existing specialty clinics for conditions such as OCD, psychosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders, or develop new specialty clinics, based on expertise.
  • Provide additional clinical services as needed and serve as a resource for university-affiliated health centers.

Teaching and Mentorship

  • Supervise and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other healthcare trainees in clinical settings.
  • Conduct lectures, seminars, and case reviews to enhance clinical learning and knowledge of adult psychiatry.
  • Participate in curriculum development and educational program planning to advance training in psychiatry.
  • Develop and deliver educational content on current psychiatric practices, psychopharmacology, and emerging treatment modalities.

Professional Engagement

  • Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and with diverse populations.
  • Engage in local, regional, and national collaborations that support professional growth.
  • Participate in the College of Medicine’s mission by contributing to clinical teaching, clinical program development, educational initiatives, and potentially clinical research programs.
  • Actively participate in service at the department, college, and professional levels and foster an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment in all professional activities.
Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state (e.g., Florida) and board certification or eligibility for board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary clinical teams and with diverse patient populations.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, clinical teaching, and educational initiatives for medical students and residents.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, or other healthcare trainees in a clinical setting.
  • Interest or experience in clinical program development, quality improvement, or clinical research.
