The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the Assistant, or Associate Professor level in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). We seek applicants with expertise in ISE methods for modeling, analysis, and optimization of stochastic systems. Areas of methodological focus include, but are not limited to, stochastic optimization, stochastic modeling, queueing theory, simulation, Markov decision processes, Bayesian decision analysis, data analytics, and related fields. Ideal candidates will have experience applying ISE methods to specific domains, such as service and queueing systems, transportation, infrastructure systems, manufacturing, production and operations planning, healthcare operations management, medical decision-making, and healthcare policy design. The position has an anticipated start date of August 2025.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop a high-quality publication record at UF, supervise Ph.D. students, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in ISE, and contribute to the Department’s service activities. A strong motivation for developing an externally funded research program is essential. Applicants at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate strong records of scholarship, external funding, and service. Outstanding candidates will be considered for any available endowed appointments (faculty fellowships) at the time of the offer.
UF’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) offers BS, ME, MS, and Ph.D. degrees, serving approximately 500 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The Department conducts research in various application areas, including advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare, finance, supply chain, and transportation systems. ISE faculty engage in theoretical and methodological research in fields such as data analytics, human systems engineering, manufacturing processes, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis.
