Job Description:

The Garcia Laboratory in the Center for Inflammation Sciences and Systems Medicine is seeking to fill a faculty position at the rank of Associate Research Professor non tenure track / Research Professor, non tenure track. While we are open to diverse disciplinary focuses within the realm of inflammation science and systems medicine, applications are especially encouraged for physician-scientists in the field of inflammation, fibrosis, and disease. Specifically ARDS genomics and translational research, VILI, sepsis shock and asthma.  The qualified candidates must have excellent research and laboratory experience and proven experience and expertise in the following areas:

 - Lead and conduct high-impact research projects focused on inflammation science. This includes designing experiments, securing funding through grants, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at national and international conferences.

 - Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members. Supervise student research projects, ensuring a high standard of academic excellence and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

 - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the Center and with external partners to advance the understanding and treatment of inflammatory diseases. Serve on academic and administrative committees, contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Center, and engage in community outreach to promote public awareness and understanding of inflammation science.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

MD, Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scientific researchers in the field of pulmonary and inflammation with experience in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) genetics, genomics and translational research. Mechanisms of ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) & biomarkers in critical care diseases including sepsis, sepsis shock, and ARDS.
  • 7+ years of experience as a researcher.
  • Robust publication portfolio
  • H-Index above 40
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as in a team environment.
