Job Description:

Develop, execute, and evaluate strategic recruitment plan. Provide strategic and operational leadership to the law school’s LL.M., S.J.D., MSL, and other non-J.D. programs. Identify and cultivate key student markets, including international markets. Responsible for establishing policies, programs, and procedures for graduate and international programs, including performance standards and accountability measures. Identify and cultivate relationships with professors, government officials, attorneys, and business leaders in the U. S. and internationally.  Recruit qualified applicants through on- and off-campus recruiting events, including virtual events.  Efficiently use travel to cultivate important relationships and recruit students.  Continuously evaluate and refine recruitment plan in light of market conditions and applicant pool. 

Facilitate conversion of admitted applicants to enrolled students.  Under supervision of an Associate Dean and in cooperation with the Assistant Dean for Admissions and the faculty committees, review graduate and international program applications and make recommendations on admission and scholarships.  Communicate with admitted applicants to answer questions and encourage enrollment.  Under supervision of an Associate Dean and in cooperation with UF Law Student Life, manage orientation programs for enrolling LL.M., S.J.D., and MSL students.  Ensure that enrolling non-J.D. students meet all federal, university, and College of Law requirements, including academic preparation, language proficiency, and immigration requirements. Work with Admissions in assisting international students, whether they are in the J.D. or non-J.D. programs.

Advising Non-J.D. and international students.  Develop individualized plan for success for enrolled students in the non-J.D. Programs.  Work with an Associate Dean, Student Life, the Office of Career and Professional Development, and faculty to ensure the needs of non-J.D. and international students are being met. 

Provide other programming support and duties as assigned.  Support the goals and objectives of the University and College of Law through support of academic and social programs for LL.M. and MSL students throughout the year.  This may include non-traditional classes, such as competition coaching (including of J.D. students) or short courses.  As needed, teach courses for students with legal training from outside of the United States and/or courses designed to integrate international LL.M. students with the rest of the student body.

Expected Salary: Commensurate with experience
Minimum Requirements:

 

Master's or J.D. degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate years of experience; or bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • JD degree with bar admission and significant practice experience;

  • LL.M. degree;
  • Proficiency in one or more foreign languages, especially Spanish, Chinese, or Portuguese;
  • Understanding of the legal, educational, and cultural norms of the U.S., Latin America, Asia, or other international student markets;

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

  • Ability to counsel students on academic, professional, and personal matters
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of internal and external constituencies;
  • Ability to project a positive image of the University of Florida and the Levin College of Law.
