Job Description:

Lecturer in Event Management (non-tenure track position): The University of Florida (UF) (http://www.ufl.edu) invites applications and nominations for a lecturer position in the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (http://hhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/them/)

The primary position responsibility is to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in (1) event management and (2) hospitality management. Because of tremendous growth in the undergraduate event management program, immediate need is anticipated in the following courses: Event Promotion, Advanced Event Management, Convention Sales and Service, and Food & Beverage Management. The position will also require assistance with the supervision of event, tourism, and hospitality management internship/practicum student field experiences.

Contribution to both online and residential courses and program development is required. As a Lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management, you will be responsible for enhancing our program's outreach by developing and nurturing professional relationships with industry stakeholders. Additionally, you will offer career advising to students and actively participate in service activities across the program, department, and college levels. A successful applicant will be given opportunities and time to expand the breadth of their teaching experience and to develop new coursework and educational programs.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

While a relevant advanced degree (Ph.D. degree) is desirable, candidates who are ABD or have significant industry experience in event planning / management and resort management will also be strongly considered. ABD candidates must show that they are ready for graduation, December 2024 or May 2025.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates should be passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and student learning and demonstrate a professional commitment to teaching excellence.

Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to interact with and relate to various constituencies in the local community and throughout the state of Florida.

Candidates should also have considerable knowledge and experience working with online course development and delivery.

Evidence of successful college-level teaching (online and residential) as well as event certificates [e.g., Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM)] are preferred.
