We are seeking a Chemist to work in the Analytical Toxicology Core Laboratory (ATCL) and in grant-funded projects involving environmental toxicology. The major duties of the job include performing extractions of compounds from matrices such as water, tissues and sediments, performing analyses by LC MS/MS on a variety of small molecules and performing lipidomics experiments. The candidate would also be responsible for meeting with clients for the Analytical Core, writing reports, writing manuscripts and giving presentations. This individual will be responsible for training students and other relevant personnel in the laboratory on analytical procedures. The position requires an individual who will contribute positively to the lab environment and is capable of taking direction and following it. The person must be open to constructive feedback and be able to carry out research independently.

A Post-doctoral Associate position is available in theoretical physics of living systems in the group led by Dr. Gabriel Birzu in the Department of Physics. The expected start date is Summer 2025, with some flexibility. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field, with strong mathematical and computational skills. The candidate will conduct theoretical research on microbial ecology and evolution. Possible research topics include inferring statistical models of microbial community dynamics from time series data, studying the dynamics of complex microbial communities, and developing models of adaptive evolution in spatial populations. Prior knowledge of biology is a plus, but not necessary. Collaboration with scientists from other departments or institutions will be encouraged.
