The University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine is currently seeking a full-time academic board certified or board eligible Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon. This position will be an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor on a tenure–accruing or non-tenure accruing track. Title and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.
Responsibilities will include patient care, teaching and research with emphasis on orthopaedic hand surgery.
The Division of Hand to Shoulder Surgery at the University of Florida is staffed by 4 hand surgeons and 3 shoulder and elbow surgeons supported by 5 Physician Assistants. The service also has a junior resident, chief resident, 2 upper extremity fellows and one shoulder and elbow fellow on service. Clinically the area is rapidly growing with an aging population that requires significant clinical care. All clinics are busy. There is a base compensation but an opportunity for a significant bonus greater than 50 percent of salary depending on clinical productivity. The Division is well supported by research staff resulting in 50 publications last year. Efforts toward extramural funded research is also encouraged. Opportunities for collaborating with engineering, physical therapy, veterinary science and other colleges exist as we are all on the same campus.
Gainesville Florida is a midsized city in north Florida with a large University (University of Florida 52,000 students) and a large College Santa Fe (13,000 students). The education system in the city is excellent and the cost of living is modest. Florida does not have an income tax.
