Job Description:

Florida AgrAbility Program (FAP):
Meet with stakeholders to determine their need based on project guidelines. Conduct home and worksite assessments and identify ways people with disabilities can continue farming safely and successfully. Lead the implementation of best practices and tools for farm workers. Provide Assistive Technologies (AT) information and suggestions; coordinates the modification of equipment and changes work site locations. Leads the processes of restructuring farm tasks and identifying resources and services that can aid farm workers independence. Provide outreach and networking activities throughout the state of Florida’s farming and agricultural community to raise awareness about the program and to identify people eligible to receive support from the Florida AgrAbility services. Driving to various locations will be required. 

Establish and maintain relationships with state and local government organizations, agricultural businesses, UF Extension, community-based organizations, and health care providers. Proactively manage and communicate ongoing changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Conduct project meetings and communicate project status. 

Florida Inmate Workforce Initiative:

Work with the project team to develop and track the progress of work plans to ensure timely, high-quality project deliverables within the established budget. Create and revise policies related to inmate workforce development. 

Proactively Manage project timelines and milestones for work plans and status reporting and communicate ongoing changes in project scope and document risks, actions, issues, and decisions. Facilitate the analysis and resolution of issues that impede project progress. Create and deliver progress reports and requirements documentation. Create recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. 

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong experience and understanding of project management methodologies, techniques, and tools. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, project management, and implementation skills. Advanced written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation and interpersonal skills for proposing actions, analyzing risks, and influencing and facilitating sustained change. Personal and/or professional experiences with people who have disabilities (that affect farmers, agricultural equipment usage, and best practices related to agricultural safety and health) are preferred but not required. Working knowledge of various aspects of farming and agriculture (e.g., equipment, crops, animals, organic, conventional, production, distribution, etc.). Willing and able to research new information as needed to accommodate agricultural operators with a disability. Have the knowledge and ability to conduct on-site farm assessments, including the ability to identify barriers and needs, safe practices in farm environments, correct preparation and dress, and the ability to engage with farm families and workers. Experience with adaptive devices, with the ability to teach individuals or groups about how to use AT equipment. Ability to travel and reliable transportation Accountability and Self-management: should be motivated and at times work with limited direct supervision.
