Job Description:

The laboratory of Dr. Safder Ganaie at the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow.

Our research focuses on host-pathogen interactions and the mechanisms of virus entry, with particular emphasis on emerging and re-emerging RNA viruses. Utilizing a range of interdisciplinary approaches, including biochemical, molecular, and cell biological techniques, as well as genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screening, we investigate virus entry and infection mechanisms in both in vitro and in vivo (mouse) models.

Dr. Safder Ganaie is an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, College of Medicine, University of Florida. To learn more about our recent work, please refer to the following publications: Cell (2021) PMID: 34559985 and Sci Adv PMID: 37450601.

Expected Salary:

Annual salary range is $50,000.00 - $64,000.00 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD, MD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field of study with strong academic background in laboratory research.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Preference will be given (though not required) to candidates with a virology background and experience in handling BSL3 pathogens.
