Postdoctoral Associate - Hattori Lab
Job no: 529386
Work type: Post Doc Associate
Location: Palm Beach
Categories: Biology/Life Science, Allied Health
Department:37045100 - SR-NEURO-HATTORI LAB
The Hattori Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology is seeking outstanding and highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate. The Hattori lab focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms of reinforcement learning and cognitive processes such as decision making and number sense in healthy and disease states. We investigate these mechanisms through large-scale recordings of neural activity dynamics, synaptic plasticity dynamics, and neuromodulators from mice engaged in sophisticated behavior tasks (e.g. Virtual Reality tasks). The big data, collected with a large field-of-view 2-photon microscope, will be analyzed using data science approaches. We also perform optogenetics and computational modeling of animal behaviors and neural dynamics. Examples of our relevant works can be found in the following publications: Hattori et al., Cell (2019); Hattori and Komiyama, Neuron (2022); Hattori et al., Nature Neuroscience (2023). Please also check our website for further details: https://hattori.scripps.ufl.edu/
We are currently funded by SFARI, which can provide supplemental funding for underrepresented minority groups (https://www.sfari.org/grant/sfari-seed-rfa/). Eligible candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates are expected to lead independent research under the guidance of Dr. Ryoma Hattori and work collaboratively with the lab members and external collaborators.
Commensurate with experience.
Requires a doctoral degree in relevant fields. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of Dr. Hattori.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, or animal behavior experiments. Some programming experience will be also necessary for data analyses. Candidates without these backgrounds are also welcome if they have relevant skills that can contribute to the research projects in the lab.
|Special Instructions to Applicants:
To be considered, prospective candidates must upload a cover letter, resume, a brief description of research experience and research interests and a list of three to five references.
The final candidate will be required to provide official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered "official" if a designation of "Issued to Student" is visible. Degrees earned from an education institution outside of the United States are required to be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/
