The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position serves as the University of Florida’s Training, Research and Education for Environmental Occupations (UF TREEO) Center’s lead instructor and outreach coordinator for Cross Connection Control courses. Responsible for developing, refreshing, and teaching online and face-to-face courses related to Cross Connection Control. Responsible for engaging and developing partnerships with trade organizations to provide training and ensure offerings meet federal and state regulations.
The essential function of the job are follows:
Prepare and instruct Cross Connection Control courses for operators, testers, repair technicians, and others at the TREEO Center in Gainesville, across Florida, and occasionally in other states. Responsible for ensuring courses meet current federal and state regulations. Responsible for updating existing course offerings and identifying new training topics and opportunities. Research market trends and design new online and face-to-face training courses.
Participate in meetings with local government officials, utility managers and other organizations to secure training and technical assistance projects for UF/TREEO. Represents UF/TREEO by maintaining membership in trade organizations such as ABPA, FWEA, FSAWWA, FWPCOA, participating in committees, making presentations at conferences and at trade shows. Identify exhibitors and speakers for the annual Cross Connection Control conference. This event includes providing training to all backflow trainers across the state of Florida, advising on new procedures, assemblies, and training materials.
Provide oversight and ensure the Backflow database is updated with course data, descriptions, student data, and course completions. Inspect, repair, and maintain backflow related equipment, including but not limited to backflow prevention assemblies, test kits, gauges, pipes, and valves. Provide oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of training sites across the state and at host sites outside of Florida.

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.
