Job Description:

The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a full-time (1.0FTE), 12-month tenure/tenure-track faculty position in the Neuropsychology concentration area.  Rank is open at the Associate Professor or Professor level.  We seek individuals with a record of academic achievement with a focus on movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.   Successful applicants will (a) conduct an independent research program, with a history of success in extramural funding particularly in movement disorders, (b) contribute to the academic mission through teaching, supervision, and mentorship, and c) participate in interdisciplinary clinical and research efforts with collaborators, including those at the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases (https://fixel.ufhealth.org).  Across all areas, the applicant will engage with pre- and post-doctoral trainees and be committed to equity and inclusion as a key value in mentorship and research.  A key component of the position is interdisciplinary and collaborative engagement in research and clinical endeavors across UF Health.

The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is a freestanding department within the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the UF Health Science Center.   The Department has over 40 core faculty, over 80 doctoral students, and two APA accredited programs:  a doctoral program in clinical psychology and a clinical internship program in professional psychology, along with APPIC-member post-doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology.   The department houses two ongoing T32 training grants, one in movement disorders and one in aging/neuromodulation.   

UF is ranked as a top five U.S. public university and is a comprehensive Research I institution that includes a wide range of multiple academic departments and programs (www.ufl.edu). The College of Public Health and Health Professions (www.phhp.ufl.edu) is part of the Academic Health Center (https://ufhealth.org/about-us), the country’s only academic health center with six health-related colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. These include Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Academic Health Center also partners with the adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Academic Health Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers at the University of Florida include the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

The ideal candidate for this position is expected to display a strong career record of scientific and scholarly achievements relative to other professionals at their current professional rank; have active interest and skills in building a collaborative research program within a dynamic, interprofessional, academic health center environment; add depth and/or breadth to existing areas of specialization represented by existing faculty in the Medical/Health Psychology area; and possess competency and willingness to engage in (i) mentorship of research and (ii) supervision of behavioral health service delivery within a Scientist-Practitioner graduate training program emphasizing evidence-based practice.

The Candidate will work closely with colleagues within the department, physicians, and other health care providers in a dynamic healthcare environment. If applicable, day-to-day clinical service delivery responsibilities may take place across a variety of settings within the UF Health Science Center, including our outpatient UF Psychology Specialties Clinic, other UF Health Outpatient Clinics, or the inpatient units at UF Health/Shands Hospital. This is a full- time (1.0 FTE), 12-month position, with an open start date.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and be licensed or licensed-eligible in the State of Florida. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of specialty training in neuropsychology at predoctoral, internship and post-doctoral levels.  Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology is desirable. Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams at an academic health science center is essential. A record of academic accomplishments, scholarly recognition, external research support, and leadership responsibilities to warrant appointment at the level of professor or associate professor is essential.
