Job Description:

The Lastinger Center for Learning is an education innovation hub within UF’s College of Education focused on creating equitable education systems that improve teaching and learning across early childhood and K-12 education. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children’s educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research, practice, and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of research-based practices. Housed in one of the nation’s elite public research universities, the Center operates as a dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace focused on executing against UF’s service mission to strengthen the human condition and improve the quality of life.


Working in collaboration with the Content Production Team, the Instructional Design Specialist
will be responsible for:

Create, research, provide instructional design, and review content as assigned
● Author activities for content that are developmentally appropriate, and ensure content follows the outlined templates and scope of work
● Align content and assessments with the appropriate Competencies and Standards
● Ensure content adheres to APA guidelines, as appropriate
● Review content and materials, and edit/revise for improvements as necessary
● Assist with updates to visual identity and platform migrations as necessary
● Consult with subject matter experts on assessment and learner engagement activities, providing guidance on learning management system features to support adult learners
● Locate and produce appropriate video or graphical resources for online content
● Adhere to established schedules and deadlines
● Create assets as part of the course development or update process
● Refer to other Lastinger Center courses to ensure consistency within and across product lines and/or courses
● Collaborate with Experience Design and Development to review, and edit directions or functions within platforms such as the Learning Management System, Student Information System, etc.
● Collaborate across project teams to ensure any course improvements that have been identified by instructors and/or practitioners are reviewed and incorporated into course versions or documented on backlogs for later prioritization
● Review and edit course content and materials both video and non-video, including supporting closed captioning files, Interactive Media Elements, etc.
● Collaborate with production partners as required

Support production activities
● Produce documentation such as but not limited to the following: scripts, storyboards, production notes, transcripts, supporting resources, glossaries, etc, or other specified documents as part of project deliverables and production schedules
● Review, revise, and format course resources as required
● Assist in the pre-production, production, and post-production of videos and other assets for courses or other products
● Organize course materials on file sharing systemParticipate in project and/or content review meetings to discuss progress, materials alignment, and next steps in active or future projects
● Support activities for on-site/field filming as needed, included organizing digital consents for filming in accordance with Lastinger approved procedures
● Assist with tagging videos and other assets

Participate as an active member of the Content and Learning Services Team
● Attending meetings and focus groups as requested
● Collaborate as appropriate with other teams and within the Lastinger Center
● Maintain daily communication with the Content Design Coordinator
● Track time in accordance with established team processes to align work time to billable projects
● Participate in planning and delivery of promotional presentations, conference sessions, etc, as required

Lastinger Center for Learning supports and promotes a healthy work-life balance. To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 - $65,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Background in either Early Childhood, K-12 Literacy, or K-12 Mathematics preferred
● Strong editing and instructional design skills
● Superior interpersonal and communication skills, superior oral and written communication skills, ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, ability to work proactively on a broad range of project support.
