The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Graduate Division seeks a collegial, experienced and creative advising professional to join the Professional Master’s team. This position will advise Professional Master’s graduate students on course selection, degree requirements and educational plans required to support and meet their academic and professional goals. In addition to advising, this person will provide additional student support services and will assist with developing and implementing practices and policies related to the program.
About the Opportunity
The Professional Master’s Advisor will serve as the primary contact for students regarding academic core, departmental requirements, class selection, academic policies/procedures and campus resources. This position will assist students with identifying long-term goals and career plans as well as ensuring they are positioned for graduation.
We are seeking an advisor that can develop and maintain advising practices and policies, conduct comprehensive academic, career, and other student support services. Must maintain student and advising records, monitor student performance, resolve student issues and coordinate advising programs such as peer advising, career placement, internships, or other college programs.
The Academic Advisor will collaborate with other campus units such as the Office of Careers and Corporate Partnerships, International Center and Graduate School on campus referrals. Will assist college administrators in the recruitment and admissions of students. The Academic Advisor will analyze data and prepare reports on enrollment, student achievements and more. Additionally, this position will supervise student assistants as needed.
