Job Description:

The UF College of Education (COE) invites applications for the Director of the School of Special Education, School Psychology, & Early Childhood Studies (SESPECS). The College seeks an engaged, visionary, and collaborative faculty member to provide leadership and administration to assist their School in achieving excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service. This is a faculty position with administrative responsibilities reporting to the COE Dean.

This position is a nine-month appointment that includes a .66 FTE assignment during the summer period and an administrative stipend. The start date and term of each appointment will be negotiated with the Dean.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Only current permanent faculty at UF can apply (OPS, Post-Docs, Adjuncts, Interim, Courtesy or Visiting faculty are NOT eligible to apply.)

Must possess a Doctorate degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in/with the College of Education
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to provide leadership and to integrate the views of others in decisions and in the context of shared governance
  • Commitment to securing external funding and support for program maintenance and development
  • Successful relevant administrative experience (e.g., coordinator of an academic program; director of a program, sizable grant, or center/institute, director of a department or school)
  • Ability to organize large-scale projects and complete complex projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to promote inclusion, diversity, and cultural competence
  • Ability to provide mentoring to guide the professional agendas of the School’s faculty
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of the larger COE administrative team.
