Job Description:

RecSports Team Members Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
  • Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
  • Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures

Area Specific Job Responsibilities:

Official:

  1. Officiate/Umpire Intramural Sports contests including: 
    1. Fall - 7v7 Flag Football, Softball, 3v3 Basketball, Indoor Volleyball, Indoor Soccer
    2. Spring - 5v5 Basketball, Softball, 4v4 Flag Football, Outdoor Soccer
    3. Summer - 5v5 Basketball, Softball, Indoor Soccer, Co-Rec Kickball
    4. Officials/Umpires are hired for specific sports and can be hired to work multiple sports

Scorekeeper:

  1. Scorekeep Intramural Sports contests including
    1. Fall - Flag Football and Softball
    2. Spring/Summer - 5v5 Basketball and Softball

Requirements/Qualifications

  • University of Florida student
  • Minimal experience required however a basic knowledge of sports is desired
  • Training sessions are conducted to provide officials with officiating techniques

Expected Salary:

$8.56 - $9.35/hour

Preferred Qualifications:

Must attend virtual sport-specific trainings on 6/14 (Summer B Start Only). Exact training dates, times, and locations will be sent out by Justin Griffin (JGriffin@ufsa.ufl.edu)

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Following application, applicants may work as an official, as a scorekeeper, or both. Officials can work only one sport, or may be asked to work multiple sports. Assignment will depend on training sessions attended, at which further information will be provided.

This is a time-limited position.

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
