Job Description:

This position provides support for multiple federal grants requiring the successful candidate to interface with laboratory personnel (lab manager, postdoctoral associates, grad students) to support all of the research projects.  The position requires the ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team, assisting multiple ongoing research projects.

Primary areas of need include: performance of standard cell/molecular biology techniques on neural tissues and assisting Lab Manager in maintaining necessary supply levels. Additional duties include post-surgical animal care, and performing experimental treatments on rats, including exposures to prescribed gas mixtures, and miscellaneous duties as needed.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 to $20.00 per hour, negotiable based on education and experience 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as: RT PCR, Western Blots and ELISA; immunofluorescence microscopy. Additional requirements include: tissue harvesting, perfusion and sectioning fixed tissues for immunofluorescence.
  2. Experience considered a strength includes: 1) more advanced cellular techniques such as immunoprecipitation and/or flow cytometry; or 2) data analysis and preparation to support data presentations in written publication and/or oral presentations.
  3. Experience working with laboratory rodents, preferably rats.
