The University of Florida/IFAS Extension 4-H Camping Program is looking for a Camp Health Director for 4-H Camp Cloverleaf in Lake Placid, FL. The Camp Cloverleaf Summer Leadership Team is comprised of the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Camp Health Director, and the Summer Camp Coordinators. The Camp Health Director reports directly to the camp directors. The Camp Health Director is the lead medical professional on the camp staff, responsible for managing the health center and handling any and all medical related situations that arise. The Camp Health Director is responsible for distribution of approved prescription and over-the-counter medications/first aid to our campers. Campers or staff members with serious ailments/injuries are transported to the local urgent care facility or hospital by camp staff. All camp staff will be required to have American Red Cross certification in CPR/FA/AED before summer camp starts. For staff not yet certified, training will be provided prior to start of camp. The Camp Health Director will be provided housing on-site and will be expected to be on-call 24 hours a day, Monday morning through Friday afternoon.

Summer Camp Cabin Leaders are the vital foundation to our summer camp program, as they are a positive role model, create lasting memories for all campers, provide safe cabin supervision, and have fun engaging in camper activities. Cabin Leaders are the primary group of camp staff that provide day and overnight supervision for campers aged 6-16 years. They will be a leader of joy, fun, and adventure while manifesting a loving and inclusive environment in their cabins. They also assist in providing hands-on, experiential education programs. Some examples would be assisting with campfires, crafts, STEM activities, waterfront activities, shooting sports, and many other traditional camp programs. This position will report to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director and work cooperatively with the Camp Staff Specialist assigned to their cabin. Summer Camp Cabin Leaders will be provided housing on site, primarily in the cabin they supervise, and will also be provided any meals being served during camp events in addition to their weekly salary. They serve as a positive role model and teacher and create lasting memories for all campers. All Summer Camp Specialists must be Waterfront Lifeguard certified before summer camp starts. For staff not yet certified, training will be provided prior to start of camp. Summer Camp Specialists will work closely with the Assistant Camp Director and Day Camp Coordinator to design and plan for their specific specialty area’s activities. They are the lead camp staff responsible for teaching their programs and ensuring all safety procedures are followed. Other responsibilities include youth supervision throughout the day and overnight in the cabins, along with their assigned Cabin Leader. This individual may also have teaching responsibilities outside of their specialty area, and they will contribute to and work evening programs. Summer Camp Specialists will assist in other duties as assigned by the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. Camp Specialists directly report to Summer Leadership Team Members.
