The Veterinary Technician Manager is responsible for the supervision, training, and scheduling of 22 veterinary technicians that work in our Progressive Care Ward (PCW). This is a state of art step down facility from our ICU and provides nursing care for non-critical patients and recovery post-op. It is staffed 24/7, including holidays. Other responsibilities include oversight of the veterinary assistants that work throughout the area with the help of 2 supervisors, ensuring equipment is maintained, and budgets are met. The PCW manager is a key person in regards to hospital infection control and oversees isolation area.
This position is responsible for creating an environment of patient-focused care, defining standards for quality patient care, managing and developing work-based teams, ensuring staff receive proper training and providing leadership to our nursing team. The person must have a presence in the area, including covering shifts where if needed. This person will work closely with the ECC manager and hospital director to ensure area is working toward overall hospital goals. This position requires knowledge of veterinary nursing care and techniques.
