This position has the potential to assume the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) directorship. The Norman Fixel Institute features a new building and campus dedicated to Alzheimer’s and related conditions. The Institute campus boasts thousands of square feet available for research. The University of Florida is also home to the McKnight Brain Institute and a free standing Neuromedicine Hospital. There is a NIH funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a fellowship training program for Alzheimer’s and behavioral neurology. Neuroscience and Neurology research are consistently ranked in the top 10 in NIH Blueridge ratings. UF is also funded by a State of Florida memory disorders center grant. If desired, there is an opportunity for an individual to provide care for critically ill infants at a new 75-bed level IV NICU at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the 48-bed level III NICU at UF Health Jacksonville. UF faculty staff both of these NICUs. The Division is an active participant in the Vermont-Oxford Network and in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative.
