The University of Florida (UF) Department of Epidemiology seeks compassionate, detail-oriented individuals to function as Community Health Workers (CHWs) to focus on the health conditions and concerns of those 60 years of age and older, with specific attention to the (DOH) Department of Health project protocols. This is a part-time position and requires the CHW to meet older residents in various community locations such as libraries, parks and laundromats to conduct health assessments, provide health education and link residents to community resources and research studies. All information will be kept confidential. CHWs will take initiative but work under supervision according to a prescribed protocol. CHWs must have a valid driver’s license and may drive HealthStreet vans or his or her own vehicle to the various locations, for outreach. This job requires a genuine regard for diversity, an outgoing personality and attention to detail. This is not an office job. It requires being out in the community in a fast-paced environment requiring detailed record-keeping while offering person-centered referrals to community services.
