The Department of Animal Sciences in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) is seeking a Farm Supervisor for the Beef Teaching Unit. This position requires hands-on experience managing and supervising staff and the operation of working beef cattle facilities. Farm supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:  supervision of employees, animal handling, breeding management, animal processing, diet formulation, forage production, planning work schedules, accounting, education, and coordination of research projects with the department of Animal Sciences.  The successful candidate will be involved with all aspects of working livestock operations and will be required to supervise employees, including student employees.  Position will involve driving vehicles and operating farm equipment.

Veterinary Care Technician I 11800000 - RE-ANIMAL CARE SERVICES Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
The Veterinary Care Technician I reports to the Vet Care Manager and Clinical Veterinarian. Provides veterinary care to a wide range of species of animals including (but not limited to) mice, rats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, sheep, goats, horses, pigs, non-human primates, amphibians, reptiles, pigeons, chickens, cattle, etc. Some animals may be experimentally infected. Employee may be required to be vaccinated to work with these animals or enter their rooms. Need excellent animal record keeping skills, interpersonal communication skills. This requires a basic knowledge of standards set forth by the USDA and the Natl Resch Council guide for care & use of lab animals. Some species are potentially aggressive and some may carry infections that are hazardous to humans or other animals. • Performs activities relating to veterinary care as directed, including but not limited to: triage, assessment,treatment, sample collection, documentation, anesthesia and surgery support. • Performs animal health treatments, ensuring clinical health records are complete and current. • Assists with surgical and post-surgical monitoring and care assistance procedures. • May assist in teaching and training classes, wet labs and special training sessions for ACS staff,investigators and other customers. • Provides technical assistance and support for ACS staff, investigators and other customers. • Establishes working relationships and communicates effectively with University research staff and ACSstaff. • Processes incoming animals and assists in routine health maintenance and enrichment programs. • Follows established protocols and procedures and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state andlocal laws, regulations and guidelines concerning quality assurance and laboratory animal care and use. • Possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Animal Care Technician I 11800000 - RE-ANIMAL CARE SERVICES Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
The Animal Care Technician 1 (ACT1) provides basic care of animals and animal facilities by completing primarily simple and routine animal caretaking and cage wash duties as directed by Operations Manager or their designee, which may occur up to 50% of the time of overall job duties and responsibilities. All actions are completed by strictly and consistently following applicable ACS SOPs including safety procedures and policies. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOP’s or non-routine situations immediately to Operations Manager or their designee. This position is working in one of Animal Care Services cage wash sections, this ACT1 will operate cage wash machinery to include tunnel washer, rack washer, bedding vacuum system, waste disposal BSC, water bottle filling station, bedding dispenser, autoclaves and other related units. Will maintain cage wash support-areas including Edstrom water rooms, gas tank rooms, storage rooms, etc.
