The Department of Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Undergraduate Research Assistant (UGA). The UGA will work on the "Reanimating African American Oral Histories of the Gulf South" project. This project harnesses computational linguistic methods and is informed by the needs and expertise of three diverse user groups (K-12 educators, linguists and oral historians). This position will provide essential programming, administrative, analytical, or data annotation work. Through their work students are exposed to research methods and project design. This position is great for Linguists, Computer Scientists, or those in the College of Education, however the position is open to anyone who wants to gain skills and research experience in natural language processing (computational linguistics), African American studies, software development, or K-12 education.
