   Student Affairs Coordinator
Classification Minimum Requirements:

Pre-Veterinary Advising:
Schedule pre-vet advising appointments via phone, virtually, or in-person with undergraduate students, high school students and parents, non-traditional applicants, any pre-vet advising walk-ins as needed and prospective groups (pre-vet clubs, pre-health clubs, vet assisting programs, etc.). Manage the Student Services email mailbox and office Pre-Vet phone line. Correspond by phone and email with parents and students who require pre-vet advising. Hosting admissions lectures and tours for visiting applicants and pre-vet students. Establishing connections with high school health science programs in the state of Florida and holding special events at UF CVM for those schools which could include tours, lectures, simulations, and shadowing. Advise pre-vet students on a variety of topics such as pre-requisite completion, university adjustment, degree programs, admission requirements, general financial aid opportunities, preparing for admissions interviews, etc. Manage the student ambassador program (The Congregators). Recruit 40 DVM students for the ambassador program and train them on professionalism, providing tours, and interacting with the public. Manage ambassador correspondence and bi-annual meetings.

Recruitment:
Contact in and out-of-state applicants to determine their interest in UFCVM and its programs.
Attend conferences and events, both in and out of state, to increase the visibility of UFCVM. Design recruitment materials and update current materials as needed. Proactively work with affiliated institutions for recruitment and advising purposes. Work with the CVM Community Engagement Committee to provide information, presentations, and resources. Establish/maintain relationships with organizations that host innovative/valuable programs for students. Annually present at the UF CVM Open House to interested students/parents regarding DVM pathways and admissions. Participate in ANS2090 (Survey of Veterinary Medicine Professions) as a co-instructor to meet with Animal Sciences undergraduate students and provide resources. Plan, direct, and participate in recruitment/enrollment activities.

DVM Student Affairs
CVM Admissions Events: Coordinate, plan and host various groups on admissions to promote pipeline development. (e.g., FAMU’s Ag Discovery Program, Advisor and Counselor Summit, Florida high school counselors, pre-vet clubs, etc).

Spring Events: Assist the event coordinator with Professional Coating Ceremony, Commencement, and Senior Awards Ceremony-related activities. Attend meetings and serve as a day-of-event team member, available to assist as needed.

FYVE: Co-Coordinator of the First Year Veterinary Experience. Work throughout the spring semester and summer with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Success to plan and execute the orientation experience. Train student mentors on professionalism and communication with first-year DVM students. Assists with programming and execution. Works with vendors on scheduling event and needs of the college.

Social Media: Contribute to the development of the college’s social media strategy across its various social media platforms to enhance the reputation and visibility of the college and its mission. Ensure social media platforms and practices used adhere to established UF and UF Health policies and standards. Create and routinely post social content in accordance with demonstrated best practices. Establish key metrics to gauge effectiveness of social media efforts, routinely monitor analytics and share reports, and use data to identify and recommend opportunities for enhanced engagement.

Admissions:
Assist admissions team as needed during the admissions process. This will include processing of application materials (review and correspondence) and interview preparation. Serve as the point of contact for feedback to declined applicants and mock interview preparation. Attend meetings, educational conferences, training workshops, and serve on committees. Conduct follow-up interviews with advisees to determine if their needs have been met.

Other:
Working with the Associate and Assistant Deans on special projects, including: event assistance, annual reporting, poster and presentation design, and other projects as assigned. Design, develop, and conduct special studies in assigned area(s); collect and analyze data.

Expected Salary:

$45,000 - $50,000 Commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred: Knowledge of college and campus regulations regarding policies and procedures affecting admissions, registration and student records, transcript analysis, summary and verification.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with students, faculty, staff and a variety of personalities; needs strong combination of public relations skills and problem-solving skills.
Ability to write reports, compose correspondence, and summarize data for internal and external reporting.
Ability to organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to effectively utilize OPS office help to delegate tasks appropriately and to coordinate and plan with other office staffs’ needs and schedules.
Ability to work well as a team member.
Knowledge of word processing, use of spreadsheets and relational databases.
Ability to manage resources, to anticipate and plan for programmatic needs
