Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional-level Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT) a unit within UFIT.

This position is within the Artificial Intelligence & Platform Engineering team which is tasked with providing artificial intelligence capabilities and building platforms while ensuring high availability and reliability of campus services. Competitive candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn with outstanding communication skills. You will work on interesting projects that span across enterprise deployments and be exposed to new technologies and tools.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Manage and improve services under the NaviGator AI suite.
  • Work with constituents who want to leverage AI capabilities in their current processes and provide consulting services to campus.
  • Deploy and manage enterprise platforms that can be used by UFIT staff to deliver innovative solutions and enhance our constituent’s user experience.

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$85,000 – $90,000; commensurate based on education and experience. 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Enterprise level experience managing virtual machines, Kubernetes clusters, and container workloads in hybrid environments
  • Enterprise level experience managing and deploying cloud resources in at least one of the major cloud providers (i.e. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Advanced experience in installing, managing, updating, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows-based systems and applications
  • Advanced experience leveraging observability tools for logs, metrics, and traces to monitor systems and applications
  • Advanced experience with relational database platforms such as PostgreSQL
  • Expertise in configuration management tools such as ansible, puppet, and chef
  • Expertise in orchestration tools such as Terraform
  • Expertise in scripting/programming languages such as Python and Golang
  • Expertise in Rest API scripting and automation
  • Expertise in using source/version control platforms such as Gitlab, GitHub
  • Expertise in building automation pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with leading Generative AI models such as Llama, GPT, Claude, and Gemini
  • Familiarity with creating and leveraging AI agents in process automation and improvement is a plus

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
