The Opportunity

Reporting to the Academic Support Services Manager, the Academic Program Specialist II coordinates student belonging, academic success and persistence, and non-academic initiatives with UF Online alongside related units. This position supervises and mentors up to ten UF Online Student Ambassadors according to established program protocols. This role also collects and operationalizes ongoing feedback from students, faculty, advisors, and student families via various channels to continuously improve UF Online offerings.

The essential functions of the position are as follows:

Coordinates strategic efforts to improve student persistence and retention, including monitoring UF Online enrollments over time. Conducts research to identify and curate campus-wide co-curricular, professional development, personal well-being, engagement opportunities and other resources available to UF Online students. Interfaces with campus partners and vendors for UF Online student involvement in resources and activities. Facilitates student participation and assesses the impacts of resources and activities on student success. Recommends new programs or partnerships across campus to fill identified support gaps. Implements strategic professional development/co-curricular initiatives to support student success.

Primary communicator and point-of-contact within the UF Online Plaza, proposing additions and revisions in a responsive way for continuous improvement. Monitors usage and engagement analytics for the Plaza and other initiatives. Primary contact for the PaCE Families Facebook group. Plans and manages events for student engagement, including PaCE Decision Day and Preview, Virtual Recognition Ceremony, LINKS orientation, student awards, student success initiatives, and more. Supports overall student communication initiatives and socializes the availability of resources and support to students, advisors, and campus partners.

Serves as a supervisor and key mentor for the student assistants employed as UF Online Student Ambassadors, providing them professional development, guidance, and direction for student-facing engagement activities. Ensures (1) ambassador engagement/mentorship, (2) ambassador productivity (projects of value to student and UF Online including UF Online student body), (3) active ambassador role in Student Advisory Committee for UF Online. Recommends program revisions as needed. Plans and facilitates revitalized and ongoing engagement with the UF Online Student Advisory Committee, including proposing a strategy, agenda, and feedback mechanism for the UF Online Student Advisory Committee.

Collects, interprets, and operationalizes feedback from students, advisors, and student families to help UF Online plan responsive programming. Organizes focus groups and other formats for directed feedback. Mobilizes and facilitates meetings with the UF Online Student Advisory Committee. Manages implementation of UF Online’s Student Experience Project and other perspective-gathering initiatives. Liaises with the data team to acquire, review, and report on UF Exit survey data.

Collaborates with UF Online and related teams on special projects. Serves on “Keep Chompin’ fund” application review committee.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 - $65,000

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two plus years’ experience working with UF Online academic advisors and students, including familiarity with support programs and services provided to these students.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data/metrics and operationalize feedback.
