Job Description:

Assist with outpatient procedures performed in oral surgery and implant center.  Anticipate needs including instruments, sutures, etc.  Monitor and observe sedated patients by blood pressure monitor, electrocardiogram (EKG) monitor, and pulse oximeter under the direction of faculty/resident for indications of abnormal reaction during surgical procedures.

Assist faculty and residents at the chairside in the care of patients.  Follow pre- and post-operative instructions for routine outpatient procedures.  Assist in preparing patients for local, conscious, and general anesthesia.

Responsible for maintaining operatories and equipment.  Ensure asepsis and that clinical supplies are maintained and restocked.

Expected Salary:

$17.00 - $19.00 per hour commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of Oral Surgery with sedation monitoring experience and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. DAANCE certification will substitute for the two years of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Education & Training:
- Certification in dental assisting
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Certification in dental radiology
- Certification as an expanded function dental auxiliary

Knowledge: Knowledge of oral surgery instruments and equipment

Abilities:
- Ability to prepare, sterilize, maintain oral surgery instruments and equipment
- Ability to maintain and keep implant clinic running on a timely basis
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to plan, organize, and perform work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
