Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Epidemiology, jointly housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine. The Data Management Analyst II will perform data management, data cleaning and QC (Quality Control), conduct various statistical analysis under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), provide statistical support for the PI in grants applications and manuscript preparation, provide statistical support for study design and data management for biomedical, clinical, and population health research, collaborate with investigators on research projects with responsibility for data analysis and presentation of research projects.

Perform various statistical analysis using statistical programs (e.g., SAS, Stata, R, Python), under the supervision of the PI. Provide statistical support for the PI in grants applications and manuscript preparation. Provide statistical support and service for the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics (GeneBio). Conduct data clean, data merge, data quality control and back-ups. Create and maintain biostatistical documentation, including descriptions of methods, computational programs and results. Prepare electronic files using appropriate formats for submission to regulatory agencies. Monitor data collection, institute procedures to assure data quality and guarantee study protocols are followed appropriately. Ensure data integrity and compliance with security policies governed by HIPAA and the UF IRB. Prepare tables, figures and statistical procedures for scientific research projects. Assist with writing statistical design, methods, and analysis for manuscripts and research proposals.

In collaboration with research investigators, provide statistical support in the study design of scientific research, develop analytical plans, conduct statistical analysis, prepare written reports of statistical analyses and interpret the results. Communicate with PI or collaborators regarding statistical analysis issues. Participate in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of biomedical data. Participate in developing data collection forms for scientific research and clinical studies. Prepare statistical method sections for inclusion in study protocols.

Maintain and update scientific research databases using one or more systems of computer hardware and statistical analysis software. Prepare written reports and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interpret the findings and provide conclusions and recommendations. Organize and create documents and tables related to datasets; communicate with data sources about data accuracy and data dictionary.

Participate in regularly scheduled meeting with investigators and team that require statistical input. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$51,500 - $70,000, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, computer science, computational biology, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.
  • Prior experience as a bio statistician, preferably in an academic setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Proficiency in statistical languages such as SAS/R/Python and/or other computational programming skills and in database management. Ability to work in teams with other statisticians and biomedical scientists. Ability to communicate statistical ideas to non-specialists.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary team environment and manage/prioritize multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery.
  • Reliable, professional and flexible. Careful, adaptable and innovative in conducting statistical analysis.
