The Fiscal Assistants at UFPD are cross-trained and are expected to be able to handle requisition/purchasing and payroll functions. A Fiscal Assistant is responsible for all of the clerical-accounting duties associated with the processing of payroll records for police department personnel, (84 full-time sworn positions, and approximately 50 non-sworn positions and OPS/CWSP positions). They are responsible for the procurement and distribution of equipment and supplies. They prepare requisitions and initiate/monitor PCard transactions for all department purchases; ensure proper classifications of expenditures, ensure mathematical accuracy, ensure correct chartfields are used; perform verification functions in accounting systems to determine accuracy of encumbrances, account numbers, available balances and vendor codes.
