We employ state-of-the art phenotypic assays to identify small molecules that offset the insults to neuronal mitochondria due to these diseases, several different cell culture methodologies to include primary neurons from the mouse brain and human iPSC-derived neurons from normal and affected individuals, and animal models for these diseases to include both Drosophila and the mouse. We supplement these broad efforts with genetic, biochemical, and physiological assays as needed. We are currently seeking a talented and committed individual to help drive progress forward primarily in testing newly isolated compounds in animal models for neurodegenerative disorders.
