This is a full-time, 10-month instructional position that reports to the K-12 Principal of P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School. P.K. Yonge’s curriculum is being transformed to support the learning success of every student. P.K. Yonge students are issued a Chromebook at the beginning of each school year as a personal learning device and course support is provided through Canvas and Google Classroom. The high school Government, Economics, and AP Government/Economics instructor will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver interdisciplinary units organized around a driving question and supported through a learning management system. The ideal candidate would have high school Government and Economics teaching experience and recent training in educational technology and/or experience as an online learner. P.K. Yonge Instructors are expected to leverage technology to support student learning. As faculty members of a developmental research school, PKY teachers partner with university researchers and PKY teaching colleagues to design and test innovations in response to contemporary educational challenges. As a teacher in a laboratory school, interested candidates should be comfortable with both scheduled and unscheduled observers and visitors. This is a full-time, 10-month position that reports to the Director of Student and Family Services at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School. P.K. Yonge’s counseling program is integral to student achievement and preparation for post high school success. P.K. Yonge has been designing, revising, and implementing a K-12 multi-tiered system of supports since 2006. The High School Counselor will provide a comprehensive, developmental program for students in their sophomore and junior years. The counselor designs and leads activities to meet the needs of the students; consults with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and works in accordance with the school staff to promote the total secondary school program. As such, the role of school counselor is integral to our system of supports for our students (i.e., academic, social, and emotional). The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills; a sense of humor and appreciation for adolescents; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of a developmental research school; and the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population.
