This position seeks to hire a motivated individual to oversee molecular and biochemical research pertaining to the effects of environmental contaminants, on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis of vertebrates, with a special focus on small bodied fish (zebrafish and fathead minnow). The incumbent will be responsible for performing quality control and laboratory experiments/tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations, carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses; preparing specimens and samples, as well as conducting literature searches on identified topics relevant to the research program. Other duties include training visiting scientists, graduate students, professional students, and undergraduate technicians in proper use and operation of aquatic and toxicology equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for (1) Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced to maintain equipment, and will assist with the organization and day-to-day activities of the laboratory (2) Maintaining, monitoring, and updating (where required) all standard operating procedures, log books and maintenance records for equipment in the laboratory (3) Maintaining the laboratory equipment used for analysis of laboratory and field samples. (4) Day-to-day operation of laboratory facilities including monitoring inventory levels and proper storage of supplies. (5) Ensuring that all contract analyses complete their reporting requirements, and some responsibility for reviewing, collating and synthesizing the reports. (6) Budgeting and tracking expenditures for all aquatic facility and laboratory expenses. (7) Successful operation and execution of projects that utilize the facility.
