The Retrospective Theses and Dissertations Scanning project is a long-term effort to establish digital accessibility for bound theses and dissertations submitted to the University of Florida Graduate School. Reporting to the Institutional Repository Assistant, this position will primarily handle the production steps of the Retrospective Theses and Dissertations Scanning project (RTDS). These steps include performing print and digital quality control, scanning bound books via sheet-feed, Copibook, and Atiz scanners, and scanning other material when necessary. The Project Assistant will handle routine processing of theses and dissertations, including but not limited to: shipping, receiving, withdrawing or transferring, disbinding, delivering batches of books for scanning and tracking work. This work will be accomplished using sheet-feed, Copibook, and Atiz scanners; Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word; the ALEPH Cataloging module; and other tools. The Assistant will also search for author contact information, send bulk mail to authors, and process incoming forms. Additionally, this position will verify invoices received from ProQuest for electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs), process ProQuest forms for ETDs, and perform other duties as assigned. This position will also participate in establishing and maintaining workflows for a vended print on demand service for thesis and dissertation authors. Please Note: This is a time-limited appointment with an anticipated duration of 3 years. The position may be extended depending on funding. The work location is off campus at 4040 NE 49th Avenue.
