The Electron Microscopy Technologist will provide support to the electron microscopy manager in the operation and management of the Electron Microscopy Laboratory of the Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine. The technologist will assist in the preparation and examination of biological samples for transmission electron microscopy. The technologist will operate all equipment and instrumentation, including, but not limited to, ultramicrotome, cryostat, fume hood, transmission electron microscope, and digital camera.

Extension Program Assistants with this grant in Lee County will teach general nutrition to groups of low-income families and youth; travel to teaching sites within Lee County required; collect demographic and impact data for evaluation; and learn through on-the-job training skills and information related to teaching nutrition to low-income audiences.
Medical Scientist II - Surgery 29141900 - MD-SURGERY-VASCULAR Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
This position assists in a newly funded research project led by a faculty member in the Vascular Surgery Division, Department of Surgery. The project studies aortic aneurysms using human cell lines and animal models that involves cell biology, molecular biology, and histology. S/he will perform procedures following general instructions from the PI and learn to recognize problems and unexpected results. Once problems are identified, s/he will present the issues in the regular lab meeting and propose potential solutions for further discussion. S/he will be responsible for data collection, organization, and analysis. Although encouraged but not required to prepare abstracts and manuscripts, s/he is expected to develop necessary experimental methods that are not currently established in the lab. This position will work independently while the PI is always available for consultation.
Biological Scientist II 60770000 - AG-NFREC-QUINCY Gadsden
This is a TEAMS Exempt position located in Quincy, Florida. This position is a State and Grant Funded position which is time limited on a year-to-year basis depending on available funding. This position may be eliminated at the discretion of the department and/or the university. The incumbent will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks. They will participate in wildlife research (data collection, data processing, data analysis, assistance with preparations for publications and presentations, and disseminating information on wildlife and habitat management). An interest in bats and other forest-dependent wildlife is desirable but not essential. The incumbent must be willing to travel, will often be required to work independently, and may be expected to think constructively to modify pre-determined research plans. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing daily operations of the Natural Areas Training Academy (NATA), an outreach/extension program designed to provide professional land managers with a set of core skills needed to effectively manage Florida’s natural resources. The incumbent will serve as coordinator for an annual series of training workshops, which will involve coordinating logistics (updating online learning materials, arranging transportation, lodging, and meals for participants); serving as point-of-contact for workshop participants (handling registration); maintaining databases (participants, instructors, certificates, and evaluations); and marketing to recruit new participants (using email, websites, blogs, and social media). The incumbent will also contribute to an annual report to demonstrate program impacts and ensure program accountability, coordinate with instructors (UF faculty and natural resource agency personnel), and participate in long-range programmatic planning. There will be opportunities to serve as an instructor at various outreach events for adults and youth.
District Food Systems Coordinator - South Florida 60451000 - AG-FAMILY NUTRITION PROGRAM Broward
The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is the Florida component of the SNAP-Ed program (formerly food stamp nutrition education). District Procurement Coordinators (DCs) will help to support capacity building among school food authorities, communities, and farmers in order to provide them with the education and technical support to increase the availability of specialty crops in the school lunch program and to increase the number of farmers selling to local farmers markets using appropriate procurement processes while meeting state and federal food safety standards. Other duties are to provide outreach and support for school food service and producers throughout the state of Florida to promote Farm to School in Title 1 Schools, to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to low-income communities, to help develop pilot programs, and/or to implement new relationships for the sale of local products. DCs will travel throughout the counties in their district and meet with school food authorities, farmers, distributors, Extension agents, and other stakeholders as relevant to increase procurement of local food. Farmers will be introduced to food safety requirements for schools and given information on relevant training opportunities, including selling to schools and accepting EBT. DCs will also assist schools with implementing school gardens. Based in Broward County, serving the South Extension District.
