This is an administrative position in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, College of Veterinary Medicine that is responsible for coordinating and implementing administrative operation of the Department office, which provides support for approximately 19 faculty, 15 staff, 6 postdoctoral associates, 16 graduate students, and approximately 20 OPS/STAS personnel. Responsibilities of Department faculty supported by the Administrative Specialist include regular teaching, research, and academic service activities. The complex array of activities supported by the Department Office under the Administrative Specialist is funded by the State of Florida and external grants and contracts. The Administrative Specialist must be knowledgeable about unique requirements for personnel actions, fiscal and business procedures, and reporting standards. Understanding and application of financial principles related to monitoring and assisting of budget preparation and oversight of grant and contract budgets, particularly as they relate to personnel actions, is critical.
