OPS Research Coordinator
MS research coordination: The incumbent will assist the MS/Neuroimmunology team in clinical research efforts. This includes data collection, storage and management, administration of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA) or Short Test of Mental Status (STMS) when needed, assisting OT and PT by entering various outcome measures and patient responses to questionnaires in a database and obtaining consent for clinical studies such as the MS Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) project and MS biorepository.
Patient education and safety: The incumbent will be trained to educate patients and their families about multiple sclerosis (MS), research opportunities, how to manage common symptoms and risks/side effects of commonly used disease modifying therapies (DMTs). This will entail direct patient contact in clinic, providing and reviewing literature with patients and providing remote assistance by phone or online patient portal. The incumbent will also assist the patient safety coordinator in tracking labs, managing database, and ensuring all patients on highly effective therapies get adequate pre- and routine testing. This entails calling patients and reminding them to get labs done, getting lab results from Quest and LabCorp, and spending time with MS physicians to make sure necessary labs are ordered.
MS clinical program coordination: The incumbent will assist in organizing and running on-going and up-coming clinical programs within the MS clinic like the fatigue clinic, brain health clinic and patient educational events. This will entail streamlining work flow from one provider to the next in a comprehensive clinic, working with the MS team to organize educational events, as well as faxing various documents (MRI orders, prescription refills, etc.), scanning documents, uploading MRI discs when the nursing staff is busy, and calling patients when required.
$13 - $15 hourly; commensurate with education and experience.
High school graduate
Bachelor’s degree; RN or BS.
Use of personal computer software, including Microsoft Office.
Experience reading and interpreting complex guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Working to meet deadlines as demanded by the position.
