The AAHA accredited Anesthesia & Pain Management Service is currently hiring veterinary technicians/nurses. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and decision making skills with a strong desire to learn and teach. Teamwork and leadership skills are needed to be successful in this role. Our nurse anesthetists are responsible for administrating anesthetics and monitoring patients for all medical and surgical services of the UF Small and Large Animal Hospitals. Duties are performed in various facilities within both hospitals, including operating rooms, our state-of-the-art catheter lab, in conjunction with the Diagnostic Imaging service in the MRI, CT, and radiology suites, and in the dental procedures area of the Primary Care & Dentistry service. The goal of the service is to provide the highest level of patient care with a focus on ensuring health and comfort during procedures pre, intra, and post-operatively.
Technicians assist with protocols, provide sedation and anesthesia to patients, and play a significant role in instructing veterinary students, fellow technicians/nurses, and other hospital personnel in the administration of these anesthetics along with the proper use of the anesthesia equipment. The ability to work with all services of both the Small and Large Animal Hospitals gives technicians/nurses the opportunity to provide care to a myriad of species including canines, felines, equines, and various exotics species. Overall, the UF Veterinary Hospitals are seeking technicians/nurses who are looking for an opportunity to specialize in veterinary anesthesia and pain management as a long-term career choice.
