Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Contracts & Grants, the Associate Director of Research Administration is responsible for the day to day management of the Grant Accountant teams supporting all colleges, departments and centers with sponsored funding. This involves but is not limited to providing expert guidance on post award financial compliance matters, professional development of team members, process improvement and ensuring the accurate and timely submission of post award reports.
Works closely with unit team leads to ensure accuracy and timeliness of award set up, monitoring, reporting, invoicing, collections and closeout. Provides guidance and support in these areas.
Represents the Assistant VP for Contracts & Grants within specified delegation of authority in post award matters. This includes signature authority, participation in meetings, workgroups and committees. Acting Director in the AVP’s absence.
Advises and assists Assistant VP for Contracts & Grants in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to sponsored program management.
Responsible for the recruitment, training and professional development of grant accountants.
Build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships across campus.
Works closely with the Assistant VP for Contracts and Grants to enhance existing and develop new training courses/programs for delivery to the campus community.
Liaises with UF IT support on ERP system enhancements, upgrades and support tickets.
Interacts with a variety of sponsors and professional organizations to keep abreast of and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Provides reports and metrics related to award management.
Other projects and reports as assigned by the Assistant VP for Contracts & Grants.
Commensurate with Education and Experience
Master’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or other post-baccalaureate degree.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of 2 CFR 200 as well as agency specific policies for our largest funders, NIH, NSF and USDA. This position will require strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Excellent analytical skills as well as proficiency with computer applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and other applications within the MS Office suite are desired.
