Job Description:

The Department of Animal Sciences is seeking to hire a part-time employee who will help design, build and implement an app on a Cloud platform (Google, Amazon, or Microsoft, etc.). The app will be a decision support tool for dairy farmers that is being developed in JAVA by faculty and students as part of a research project. The app should be able to import files with input data, perform calculations in the cloud, and export files with result data.  The ideal employee in this position is a problem solver, provides expertise, is a good communicator, and works independently.  The project is part of a broader effort to place and run decision support tools for dairy farmers on-line.  This app is being developed in cooperation with IFAS Information Technology.

Advertised Salary:

$15.00 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability with JAVA and development of apps in the cloud. Flexibility and ability to adapt and work with faculty and students who are not experts in cloud development. Ability to follow both written and spoken instructions and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
