Research Assistant Professor
The candidate must have an established record of independent and collaborative research in the field of cognitive aging, with a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications related to mechanisms of aging, memory and executive function for a full-time, 12-month position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track.).
Successful applicants must have experience with behavioral assessment of cognition in aged rats and an ability to conduct both in vitro and in vivo pharmacology experiments. Prior experience performing biochemical assays as well as expertise in neuroendocrinology are strongly preferred. Duties will also include intracranial rodent surgeries and the design and implementation of behavioral pharmacology studies, as well as performing a range of molecular, biochemical and pharmacological in vitro assays. The applicant should be proficient in the organization, statistical analysis and presentation of behavioral, pharmacological and biochemical data. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in experimental design and should have the ability to develop an independent research program. Other duties include writing manuscripts, development of collaborative and independent grant proposals and writing rodent IACUC protocols. Participation in the Department of Neuroscience educational programs will include mentoring graduate students and undergraduate researchers. Prior experience with mentoring and teaching, particularly in neuroanatomy, is strongly preferred.
Negotiable to commensurate with education and experience.
Requirements include a PhD and/or MD in neuroscience and/or related field.
