Job Description:

Web Application Development

• Responsible for writing application code of varying complexity (in ASP.NET and SQL Server or other environment as required)

• Update and enhance existing data-driven .NET applications

• Contribute to projects throughout the SDLC for new and existing applications

• Identifiy and analyze problems; design solutions

• Author, test, and debug code; troubleshoot applications

• Produce and maintain documentation and programs

• Manage small projects and enhancements

• Report project status on a regular basis and escalate issues to supervisor as needed

Database Development

• Create, manage, and maintain SQL Server databases and database objects

• Automate tasks by creating jobs with SQL Server Agent

• Design efficient and scalable data structures in SQL Server

• Perform data analysis as needed to support the mission of BSD

• Perform research and fact-finding to develop or modify information systems and/or to assist with customer service

Application Analysis and Identification of Requirements

• Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written

• Work with a project team and customers to analyze requirements, develop use cases, and create design specifications and prototypes; provide time estimates for the analysis and development effort based on requirements

• Formulate technical solution options for new IT applications and enhancements to existing processes

• Determine need for development of new code or reuse/enhancement of existing code to meet customer requests and/or to resolve problems

Application Support

• Assist with management of Microsoft Windows Servers running IIS and SQL Server

• Deploy applications and monitor performance

• Assist with backup and recovery design, implementation, and testing

• Assist with management of DNS and DHCP in support of BSD operations

• Interface with UFIT as needed to support operations and create solutions

• Document physical and logical systems architecture

• Provide support for customer requests including end users and support staff

• Investigate issues and develop solutions

Develop reports, handle special projects and other duties as assigned

Work hours Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in web, WPF, SSRS, database, and console application development

• Expert level knowledge and skills in a modern, object-oriented web development framework

• Expert level knowledge and skills in relational database programming and administration

• Intermediate level knowledge and skills in client side web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)

• Intermediate level knowledge and skills in system administration, especially as it relates to web development

• Intermediate level knowledge of the full software development life cycle

• Intermediate level knowledge of networking concepts, applications, and troubleshooting

• Experience with C#, VB.NET, and ASP.NET

• Experience with Classic ASP/VBScript

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and IIS server administration and development

• MTA, MCSA, or MCSD certification in Software Development or Databases

• Experience with creating reports in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

• Demonstrated planning and organization skills

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously

• Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment
