Laboratory Technician I
The Department of Pediatrics is currently is currently seeking qualified, energetic applicants to fill our position of Laboratory Technician I.
The ideal candidate will should have interest in animal work that includes monitoring and care of laboratory animals. Surgical support, intracranial and subcutaneous tumor implantation in mice. Post-surgical monitoring and care including: health evaluations and surveillance, administering injections (intravenous, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal), and removing sutures. Maintain procedures and protocols. Collecting biological samples (blood, tissue, etc) and maintaining animal care records. This position will follow existing standard operating procedures in the laboratory.
- Experimental work includes synthesizing RNA constructs. Manufacturing nanoliposomes and dendritic cells. Immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry.
- Laboratory management includes maintaining lab equipment and keeping an updated inventory. Purchasing lab and office supplies. Maintaining laboratory safety programs, and training of personnel in laboratory safety techniques. Keeping laboratory records. Preparing reagents. Managing chemical and biological waste. Writing and editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the laboratory.
- Analyzing data and reporting data, including report writing and developing presentations.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
$15 - $17 hourly, commensurate within this range based on experience and education.
Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Two years of small animal handling and surgical experience. Three years of experience using excel, Google sheets, and Prism for data analysis. Strong background in designing and implementing Excel/Google worksheets with complex data points.
