As a Top 10 Career Center, the University of Florida’s Career Connections Center is dedicated to supporting the University of Florida’s academic mission by providing comprehensive Career Services that support and educate all students.
This role is responsible for creating customized industry knowledge and interactions for various University of Florida (UF) colleges and departments. Staff engage with their assigned college(s) or department(s) through the Industry and Experience Model to enhance understanding of their specified industry and academic curriculum to provide tailored recruitment connections and career education as agreed upon by the college/department and Career Center. The liaison provides specialized industry outreach career development education, to employers, faculty, staff and students. Embedded liaisons spend approximately 16-18 hours each week directly working in their assigned college(s) or department(s).
The embedded liaison is crucial in supporting all University of Florida (UF) commitment to students’ post-graduation plans by developing, implementing, and assessing programs and resources to support a combination of recruitment services, employer development and career engagement functions for a dedicated college/department/student population.
Individual liaises to exchange information and create connections among stakeholders and the entire career center for the holistic development of their specified student population. The Industry Education and Experience liaison specifically gathers industry specific information that coincides with college or department focus and shares with Center staff, faculty, staff and students within designated unit and provides opportunities for collaboration among stakeholders.
Serves as the primary liaison for faculty and staff members within one or more colleges/departments for the exchange of information and referrals between the respective academic unit and career center. Responsible for maintaining presence by attending college/department meetings and programs, establishing opportunities for academic collaboration and educating campus partners on career center services to ultimately increase overall UF community engagement.
Stays informed on industry trends for the purpose of educating team, Center staff, students and college/department.
Liaison participates in developing and executing the Center’s employer engagement plan by cultivating partnerships with both new and active employers for the benefit of their targeted college/department or student population. Identifies and develops relationships with new employers in specified industries in order to increase their recruitment activity within the college/department and use of the Center’s services. Promotes UF and its students in order to generate new employment connections. Partners with active employers to expand recruiting through customized programs within one or more colleges/departments. Maintains relationships with active employers through regular check-ins, dispensing information about the Center and creating connections between the employer and one or more colleges/departments.
Coordinates career specialist functions delivered for students in one or more colleges/departments within the University of Florida community. May create customized programs and resources and maintains up-to-date knowledge of employment trends and appropriate career development expertise for the career development of their specific population. Facilitates customized career coaching, workshops, and small group engagements within the colleges/departments. Actively builds relationships with appropriate student organizations in accordance with team goals. Develops effective marketing to promote activities within their designated colleges/departments. Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to enhance the customized student engagement efforts.
Supports the Center and College/department/student population by tracking and reporting on engagement with the UF community and other relevant stakeholders. Maintains accurate quantitative and qualitative records for various types of interactions for assessment and reporting purposes to demonstrate the impact of the embedded liaison model.
Identifies areas of opportunity where efforts overlap with other Center staff and team members of the college/department/student population administration or University community should collaborate to create and implement programs that meet the needs of students from dedicated colleges, majors or program.
Individual may maintain a budget to carry out programming, technology needs, student staff employment, marketing items and operating expenses in one or more colleges/departments.
May provide supervision for one or more student assistants.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor and higher authorities in the department and division. Attends staff meetings and one-on-one supervision meetings to ensure clear communication with colleagues and supervisors. Participates in department, division and university-wide committees. Potentially supervises graduate students, interns, or student assistants. May have indirect impact on the position duties of other Center staff members. Track, report and communicate outcomes of projects to various Center stakeholders including: students, alumni, faculty/staff, and employers. Lives out Center’s values in all aspects of job function.
