Job Description:

The School of Music at the University of Florida invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Music History. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position.

Responsibilities: Teach sections of the undergraduate music history sequence (from Antiquity to the present), music appreciation, and a graduate music history course. Additionally, the Lecturer will serve on graduate committees and contribute to the governance of the School of Music, College of the Arts and the University of Florida through participation in faculty meetings and assigned committees, as well as participation in the School of Music and University events. The teaching load is four courses per semester, with three course preparations. Additional duties may include scholarly or creative activity that supports the teaching mission of the Lecturer position, in keeping with its emphasis on professional development and practice.

Advertised Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Musicology or Music History and previous university teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic about teaching music history and is well-equipped to teach the music history sequence, as well as music from a variety of contexts and cultures in a general education, music appreciation course.
